Air Force implements fuel saving initiatives

With the rising price of oil adding $1 billion (€750 million) on to the cost of fuelling the Air Force fleet in 2012, the aviation service has come up with a number of solutions to help save fuel.

The Air Force has already put a number of fuel saving plans into action. Today its fuel consumption has decreased by 4% compared to the volumes used in 2006 despite it transporting 27% more cargo. The Air Force now pays 21% less to carry one tonne of cargo for a mile.

Delta Air Lines' board of directors endorse bid for refinery
Delta Air Lines has made a bid to buy the ConocoPhillips refinery, a Philadelphia fuel-processing facility facing closure, with the aim to supply its own jet fuel.

Jet fuel thieves arrested, Jakarta
Police have arrested 10 of 14 suspected jet fuel thieves at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The quantity of fuel stolen was worth a reported IDR 1 billion (€82,436.45) and had allegedly been taken over a period of 4 months by the arrested, all of whom worked at the airport as aviation technicians.
