Virent produces jet fuel from cellulosic sugars

The cellulosic sugars from pine trees have helped produce jet fuel and petrol

Renewable fuels and chemicals company Virent, and Virdia, formerly known as HCL CleanTech, have produced drop-in hydrocarbon fuels for use in the aviation industry from cellulosic pine tree sugars.

Virdia supplied its biomass-derived sugars to the project, while Virent's deconstruction BioForming process converted it to jet fuel and petrol.

Rosneft fuels Lufthansa aircraft
RN-Aero, a subsidiary of Russian oil major Rosneft, is now providing airline Lufthansa with into-plane fuelling services at Moscow's Vnukovo Airport in Russia.
