Airport board proposes fuel tank

In South Dakota, US, airport board members have proposed to build a fuel tank at Flandreau Airport.

The board submitted its proposal to the Flandreau City Council on 19 December and is now waiting to see if the request will be approved.

Thirteen aircraft will be kept at Flandreau Airport from Q2 2012 and the fuel tank would prove beneficial for pilots who currently have to refuel their planes at other destinations, including Pipestone, Madison, Sioux Falls and Brookings.

Boeing improves jet delivery process
Up to 300,000 gallons of jet fuel and 5.5 million lbs of CO2 could be saved with a new and improved delivery process implemented by aircraft manufacturer Boeing.

Jet fuel prices to remain volatile in 2012
An average of 48.6 million gallons a day of jet fuel was consumed in the first 10 months of 2011. This is lower than the 54 million gallons a day consumed in 2007 but higher than 2010's average of 47.7 million gallons per day.

EC could ban airlines which flout ETS scheme
As Chinese airlines, including Air China, China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines and Hainan Airlines, refuse to pay the carbon costs required by the EU's Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS), which came into force on 1 January 2012, other Asia-based air carriers are considering offsetting these costs onto their customers.
